Apollonius Katwijukye Kasharu is a distinguished agribusiness and rural development professional with over 25 years of experience in agricultural research, teaching, and management. He holds a PhD in Agricultural Economics from Universitaet Hohenheim, Germany, a Master’s in Crop Science from Makerere University, Uganda, and professional qualifications in Marketing Management from the Chartered Institute of Marketing, UK. With expertise in enterprise development, inclusive value chains, and community-based programs, Apollonius has successfully led multidisciplinary teams to implement projects that improve rural livelihoods and food security. He has spearheaded initiatives linking research, policy, and community action, establishing farm clinics, learning centers, and farmer cooperatives that have benefited thousands of smallholder farmers in Uganda. In addition to his management and development work, he is an accomplished academic, supervising graduate students, developing new degree programs, and publishing extensively in agricultural economics and sustainable development. Apollonius combines his technical expertise with excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and digital outreach skills to create meaningful impact. He is passionate about leveraging research, innovation, and strategic partnerships to drive sustainable agricultural growth and empower communities across East Africa.
